NEED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT HAM RADIO?

Amateur radio is first a hobby. A way to call out and make new friends from down the block to many countries around the world. You are NOT required to join any group or join in any activity to use your amateur radio license. Getting with other local amateurs, however, keeps you abreast of the latest technology. Using your radio to assist in local emergencies and disasters is of benefit to everyone. Here are some flyers to help you understand what Amateur Radio is all about.

Take the Next Step. Get a license. Here are some resources:
a) See Coconino Amateur Radio Club web site or Yavapai Amateur Radio Club web site for help.
b) Order the right manual. You should be ordering the 4th Edition. HINT: There is a softbound edition which is a little cheaper and if you search the Internet you will find it cheaper. This ARRL manual is designed to go along with the classes ARRL offers. There are many other study guides on Amazon.
c) Download the free ARRL Ham Test Prep app for Android. Make sure you download the Ham Test Prep (New) app. Due to a technical problem, they developer of the app had to upload this version. In the span of time, they will delete the old app and just have this one. For now, make sure you download the one that says "(New)". There is a free app for Apple iPhone/iPad, but I do not know the name of it.
d) There are about a dozen sites that offer sample amateur radio exams. ARRL.org, eham.net and QRZ.com to name a few. You can take the exam without registering, but you may have to register on their web site if you want to track your progress.
